You know who they are – and they’re back with a catchy new single!

“Iris” rockers the Goo Goo Dolls will release their eleventh full-length album, Boxes, this summer, and PEOPLE has an exclusive first listen to its single, “So Alive.”

A sunny, poppy departure from the alt-rockers’ oft-moody canon, “So Alive” builds over a breezy piano melody and upbeat drum line. In his signature baritone rasp, vocalist John Rzeznik sings an infectiously hopeful hook: “You can make it on a wish if you want to … Breaking down the walls in my own mind, keeping my faith for the bad times / Get up, get up, stand like a champion / Take it to the world, gonna sing it like an anthem.”

“So Alive” follows “Over and Over,” the first song released off Boxes in March.

Boxes is a vibrant, sonically forward-looking album that manages to retain what their legions of fans love about the Goo Goo Dolls – indelible melodies, intimate, heartfelt lyrics, and the anthemic, uplifting vibe of their songs – while pushing new boundaries in terms of sound and production,” the band’s label described the LP when it was announced.

Boxes is available for stream and sale on May 6.
