Goldie Hawn On Why She and Kurt Russell Still Aren't Married: A 'Ring Will Not Define the Truth'

Marriage 'has nothing to do with the success' of the relationship, Hawn tells Chatty Man host Alan Carr

On Friday’s episode of Chatty Man, Goldie Hawn comes clean to host Alan Carr about why she and longtime partner Kurt Russell have never married.

“I’ve been married twice,” Hawn says. “Basically, once you’ve done it once, once you’ve done it twice, you realize that marriage, or the act of marrying, has nothing to do with the success.”

She continues, “The wake-up call every day is, ‘Do I want to be with this man? Do I want to be in this relationship? Am I willing to give something? How can it flourish and do I want to be there?’ … Any marriage, any ceremony, any ring will not define that truth.”

Hawn, 69, and Russell, 64, have been together for over 30 years and have one child together, son Wyatt Russell. Additionally, Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson, Hawn’s children from a previous marriage, consider Russell their father, and Hawn is also stepmother to Russell’s son Boston from a previous relationship.

Hawn and Russell met on the set of The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band in 1968 but weren’t romantically involved until many years later, when they appeared in 1984’s Swing Shift. The couple also costarred as love interests in the 1987 comedy Overboard.
