“God, the Devil and Bob,” an irreverent new animated NBC series set to premiere tonight, is running into static. Seven NBC affiliates are refusing to air the show, or else are wanting to run it in a late-night slot. In Pocatello, Idaho, it will actually air on an ABC affiliate. In Salt Lake City, the local WB station will carry it. The controversial cartoon revolves around Bob (voiced by French Stewart of “3rd Rock from the Sun”), who is hand-picked by the Devil (Alan Cummings) to settle a debate with God (James Garner, whose character, strangely, looks like the late Jerry Garcia) over the worthiness of mankind. Reviews have been mixed.
