Christina Applegate knows what Giuliana Rancic is going through, and says she’ll be there if the E! host – who has breast cancer – ever wants to talk.

“I know what that phone call sounds like and feels like,” Applegate, 39, herself a breast-cancer survivor, tells E! Online. “I hope she knows that I’m here if she wants to ever talk about it.”

Still, Applegate, who was declared cancer-free after a double mastectomy in 2008, realizes the sensitive nature of the topic, and wouldn’t presume to give unsolicited advice.

“I don’t want to publicly say anything to her about it, because it’s a private matter,” the Up All Night star says. “But I know this whole journey. And so, if she needs me, I’m here.”

Rancic, 36, was diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer. She is due to have a lumpectomy this week, followed by radiation therapy.
