Like countless newly engaged women before her, Amal Alamuddin did what comes naturally after her fiancé, George Clooney, slipped a diamond ring on her finger on April 22: She showed it off. A lot.

First there was dinner with friends at Craig’s restaurant in L.A. on April 23, where the happy couple were “just beaming,” says a fellow diner. “Everyone was toasting and laughing.”

A similar scene played out the following night at Nobu in Malibu.

Seated at an oceanside table with close friends Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, Clooney kept his arm wrapped around his bride-to-be as they spent hours celebrating and stealing happy glances at each other.

“Man, they looked good together!” says a witness. “She’s gorgeous in person.”

Then, on April 27, Alamuddin, Clooney and Alamuddin’s rock joined Crawford and Gerber in Santa Barbara to celebrate Gerber’s 52nd birthday.

Although the betrothed pair have not yet made an official engagement announcement, they let their joy – and that ring, an emerald-cut diamond estimated at over 7 carats, which Clooney himself helped design – do the talking.
