Garth Brooks trading in CDs for RBIs? Not so fast. But the country star and avid baseball fan just spent his second season spring training with a pro team. Last year it was the San Diego Padres; this year, the New York Mets. Even so, there’s to be no fretting over Garth’s hanging up his guitar for a baseball glove. “Music is what I do,” Brooks tells PEOPLE, though he can’t discount his admiration for the game. “What I love most about baseball is that fathers and sons, fathers and daughters, mothers and sons” join together to watch their heroes play ball. “But trust me, if you’ve ever been to one of our concerts, those same people are out there.” Playing music and playing baseball, he says, makes “you feel like truly you are getting to change the world in some way.” Batter up.
