Freddie Prinze Jr. is thanking fans for their well wishes after revealing he underwent spinal surgery.
The actor shared the news on Twitter Nov. 20, writing: “Spine surgery this morning but now ur homie is … Robo-Bro!” He added Saturday, “I’m totally fine. Recovering great … Private medical info amigos. Let’s say I had some disc issues that have been resolved. Nuff said friends.”
Since his surgery, Prinze says he has been learning to walk again, but according to a series of upbeat photos and messages he’s posted on Twitter, he’s taking the challenge in stride.
Prinze, 38, was all smiles in a series of before-and-after photos he posted on Twitter, showing off the surgical scar on his neck and even suggesting nicknames for himself, including Robo-Bro, Brobot and the Iron Android.
Sporting a neck brace and a big grin in a photo posted Wednesday, he captioned a snap of himself outdoors “#KeepItPlayful Learnin to walk again is like learning jiu-jitsu – 1 technique at a time.”
Continuing his road to recovery, on Friday, he posted another smiling shot after completing a three-mile walk.
Despite his setback, the actor has remained in good spirits, wishing his fans a Happy Thanksgiving and sharing other motivating messages: “Just sending ya’ll some love today. Keep pushing people forward. Dont hold em back! Only way we’re gonna make it!”
In the days leading up his surgery, Prinze didn’t let on that he faced health challenges ahead as he promoted his role in Disney XD s Star Wars Rebels (in which the actor voices the character Kanan) and posted a picture of his blackened swordfish dinner.
While the actor has been documenting his recovery on social media, his wife, Sarah Michelle Gellar, has yet to comment publicly about his surgery. The couple have two children: daughter Charlotte, 5, and son Rocky, 2.
