Jeff Prosperie is the principal drummer in West Point’s marching band, the Hellcats. On June 14, he was performing during a Fox & Friends broadcast when he was hit with an ax thrown by co-host Pete Hegseth.

Prosperie detailed the incident in a Facebook post about a week after it happened.

“My leadership told me they were told there would be no ax throwing,” he continued in a separate post. “I think the anchor person went rogue and decided to throw it. He had only thrown it once before in practice for an upcoming segment, and they told him to throw it with more force.”

The show’s broadcast apparently didn’t include the actual incident: Prosperie’s post is an edit that shows the initial ax toss, followed by cell phone footage of the ax hitting him.

Hegseth has not commented on the incident.
