Foster in Sequel?

Despite reports the contrary, actress Jodie Foster has not ruled out the chance to reprise her role in the planned sequel to “Silence of the Lambs,” reports the Associated Press. W magazine’s December issue reported that Foster was not pleased with the fate of her character, Clarice Starling, in the book’s sequel, “Hannibal.” “I won’t play her with negative attributes she’d never have,” she told W, referring to Clarice’s actions in “Hannibal” (spoiler alert: she becomes a cannibal just like Hannibal). But Foster evidently feels her comments were misleading. In a press statement released Wednesday, the Oscar winner said, “I have never made any extensive comments about my feeling about the book to anyone. I will make my decision based on a reading of the script which has not been received.” “Silence of the Lambs” director Jonathan Demme has already said he won’t direct the sequel, and Anthony Hopkins, who played Hannibal Lecter in the original, has yet to commit to the project.
