Brian Knighton, known for his professional wrestling career under the name Axl Rotten, has died, WWE confirms. He was 44.

“WWE extends its condolences to Knighton’s family, friends and fans,” the company said in a statement.

According to Bleacher Report, the cause of his death is still unknown.

Most famous for being one of the original cast members of ECW in the nineties, Knighton also reportedly participated in all of the major promotions across the United States.
