Foo Fighters 'Rick Roll' Westboro Baptist Church Outside Concert
This isn't the first time the WBC and the band have squared off
Another Foo Fighters concert in Kansas City means another Westboro Baptist Church protest – and another creative counter-protest from the band.
As the W.B.C. – noted for its anti-LGBTQ platform and nationwide protests – assembled outside the band’s Friday concert at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri, Dave Grohl and company rolled up in a truck blasting Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up,” a real-life version of the notorious Rick Roll meme.
Passengers held signs reading “You Got Rick Roll’d (Again)” and “Keep It Clean,” and Grohl (recovering from a broken leg, no less) led an enthusiastic clap-along to the tune.
The Foo Fighters and the W.B.C. have previously squared off at the Sprint Center.

In 2011, the band rode up in front of the group in a rig truck, dressed all in trucker attire, singing “Hot Buns.”
Sample lines: “Think I’m in the mood for some hot-man muffins/Mmmm, sounds so fine, yes indeed.”
