Composer Hoyt Curtin, 78, whose musical themes were enjoyed by generations of TV watchers, died after a lengthy illness on Dec. 3, it has just been reported. Curtin wrote the music for such Hanna-Barbera shows as “The Flintstones,” “The Jetsons,” “Scooby-Doo” and “Yogi Bear.” Curtin once revealed that the theme for the modern Stone Age family was written in a panic in 1960 because the show, which debuted on ABC in primetime, was behind schedule. “It’s a catchy little tune,” Curtin told the Los Angeles Times in 1994. “Just a simple thing arranged for jazz and singers.”
