Faith Hill‘s upcoming Christmas album, Joy to the World, was three years in the making, and has your exclusive first listen of the album’s debut single, “A Baby Changes Everything.”

Listen to the song here:

The song is the album’s sole original track and was written by Nashville songwriters Craig Wiseman and Tim Nichols (who also co-wrote Tim McGraw‘s “Live Like You Were Dying”), along with Wiseman’s wife, KK. “KK is a minister and it originated from a sermon that she was going to present to a church,” Hill said of the song. “It’s an extraordinary piece of work.”

Joy – Hill’s first Christmas album – offers lush interpretations of classics such as “Little Drummer Boy” and “O Come All Ye Faithful” (featuring the likes of the Nashville Symphony). “It’s very spiritual, kind of a throwback to the 1950s-’60s Christmas music,” she said.

The album will be released Sept. 30, but fans can pre-order a copy through Hill’s Web site.
