Billy Currington is packing up his tour bus – along with his dog Paco – to hit the road with Carrie Underwood on her “Play On” tour starting this fall.

Life is good for Currington, 36, whose latest single, “Pretty Good at Drinking Beer,” just reached No. 1 on the country charts. His newest song, “Let Me Down Easy,” hits the radio Monday – just before the release of his fourth studio album, Enjoy Yourself – and PEOPLE has a first listen of the tune.

Listen to the track here:

As for going on the road with Underwood, Currington says he’s honored and excited about joining the reigning ACM entertainer of the year on her tour. “Carrie Underwood is at the top of her game,” says Currington. “We’re gonna get to play in front of people that have never seen us and we’ve never seen them.”

Keeping him company on tour will be his 4-year-old chocolate lab, who has “been on the road with me since he was six weeks old,” Currington says. Paco is “one of those [dogs] people write about – your best friend, your companion.”

Enjoy Yourself, a collection of songs penned by Currington’s songwriting friends, is available for download starting Sept. 21.
