Should the film adaptation of E L James’s best-selling S&M-themed novel be called 50 Lighter Shades of Grey?

If the approximate five-minute preview of the hotly anticipated movie (which began filming in December) shown this week at Las Vegas’s CinemaCon is any indication, then fans of the book may be in for a less sexually charged on-screen story than the one the book tells.

Attendees at the film festival got a peek at an opening scene, which apparently featured Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) and Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) meeting in the billionaire’s high-rise office – and at one point cuts to a watered down scene of the actress wearing a black blindfold in a red room.

That’s about as racy as the clip gets, with most of the focus being on the pair’s mutual attraction.

“Smart, intense and courteous” is apparently how Anastasia describes Mr. Grey in another portion of the clip. Christian is soon seen sending Anastasia on her way, and they start exchanging suggesting comments back and forth, such as, “Your face gives me some clue as to what I might be thinking.”

If fans have their way, the movie – which hits theaters next Valentine’s Day – will look a little something like this.
