The 27-year-old used a steel-boned corset for more than seven years to make herself look like a comic book character
After more than seven years of waist-training with a steel-boned corset, Kelly Lee Dekay shrunk her waist to a mere 16 inches.
In a video for Barcroft TV, Dekay, 27, says she went to extreme measures to transform her body so she could look like her favorite comic book characters: Jessica Rabbit and the X-Men‘s Storm.
The process of waist-training includes wearing a corset for hours each day, cinching the waist in and gradually decreasing its size over time.
“I was always really in love with the idea of bringing fantasy into my everyday life,” she says. “I didn’t set out to have a small waist; it wasn’t something that I thought about. The thing that I did think about was becoming a super villain.”
Now that the fetish model – whose waist fluctuates between 16 and 18 inches – has achieved her goal, she is happy with the results.
“I have no interest in doing anything smaller than 16 because I really love the ratio and I’m more than satisfied,” she says.
Earlier this year, Kim Kardashian revealed on Instagram that she uses similar tactics to alter her waist – she posted a photo of herself in a corset at the gym with the caption, “#hourglass #waisttraining #nophotoshopnecessary #whatawaist.com.”
“I love the fact that fabric and thread can be manipulated in order to create such a drastic silhouette,” says Dekay.
Though not everyone is as thrilled with her appearance, Dekay takes the negative feedback with a grain of salt.
“I have big, bright blue hair,” she says. “What part of me screams, ‘I want to look like everybody else?’ ”
