Fashion Honors Stars

Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Holly Hunter, Christian Slater, Angela Bassett and Ali McGraw were the big names at the Fashion Group International’s 16th Annual Night of Stars in Manhattan’s Rainbow Room high atop Rockefeller Center last night. The event honored those Hollywood stars, designers and makeup artists who have helped make movies one of the century’s most important influences on fashion. All eyes, however, seemed to be on the hot couple of the moment, Douglas and Zeta-Jones, who consciously avoided reporters’ questions on whether or not they are engaged. She wore a sequined, sea-foam green, thigh-high-slitted Badgley Mischka sheath; he wore a Nino Cerutti tux. “I grew up watching old movies, and I love the resurgence of old glamour,” Zeta-Jones told PEOPLE. Later in the evening, when she presented an award to Badgley Mischka, she said, referring to the designers, “If it weren’t for them, I’d walk around naked constantly.”
