Fantasia Barrino was “slowly losing consciousness” after ingesting a bottle of aspirin Monday night, according to a tape of the 911 call.

The unidentified caller, who was not inside the singer’s North Carolina home, tells the emergency operator that Barrino is awake but someone had placed the American Idol season 3 champ, 26, in the shower to try “to keep her awake.”

The operator instructs the caller to immediately tell the individual to remove Barrino from the shower. When asked if she is breathing, the caller responds, “Yes.”

Barrino was then transported to a Charlotte, N.C., hospital. After being treated, her manager Brian Dickens told reporters that “her injuries [were] not life threatening,” adding that she was in stable condition and expected to be released soon.

A report from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department classified the incident, which came just after Barrino was accused in a court complaint of breaking up a marriage, as a suicide attempt.

At the time, Dickens said Barrino “was totally overwhelmed with the lawsuit” and was “heartbroken and is sorry for any pain she may have caused.”
