The Oscar winner is the magazine's choice, though she is self-critical

There was no shortage of candidates, but Esquire magazine has settled on Charlize Theron as its “sexiest woman alive” this year, according to the New York Daily News.

The Oscar-winning actress, 32, is featured in a revealing Sheryl Nields photo shoot in the magazine’s new issue, due out Tuesday.

But while she may be perfect in the eyes of Esquire, Theron can be self-critical, particularly regarding her career choices.

Reindeer Games. That was a bad, bad, bad movie,” she tells the magazine. “But even though the movie might suck, I got to work with John Frankenheimer. I wasn’t lying to myself – that’s why I did it. I mean, he directed The Manchurian Candidate, which is like the movie of all movies.”

The South African beauty also gets political, and points an accusing finger at the Oval Office.

“I grew up in a country that learned the lesson that you can’t impose your way of life on 26 different kinds of people just because you call yourself righteous,” she says. “I think there are lessons this country still has to learn.”
