"I am so sorry for my actions," McHenry posted on Twitter
It has been a bad 24 hours for Britt McHenry.
On Thursday morning, a video emerged of the ESPN reporter berating a towing company employee after her car was towed on April 6.
The video was ugly and vicious: McHenry insulted the employee’s teeth, weight and education. “I’m on television and you’re in a f—ing trailer, honey,” she said during the tirade.
ESPN reacted quickly, suspending McHenry for a week.
Meanwhile, the video spread across the Internet like wildfire. McHenry’s name was trending on Twitter worldwide. The comments were overwhelmingly negative.
On Thursday, she apologized for the tirade.
“In an intense and stressful moment, I allowed my emotions to get the best of me and said some insulting and regrettable things,” McHenry wrote on Twitter.
“As frustrated as I was, I should always choose to be respectful and take the high road. I am so sorry for my actions and will learn from this mistake.”
