By Louisiana Gov. Mike Foster, Tuesday in Baton Rouge, a bill that orders students to address their teachers and other school employees as “ma’am” or “sir.” This fall the bill will apply to kindergarten through fifth-grade students, then it will be phased in for higher grades one year at a time. “It just says that young people have to show respect to their teachers,” said Foster. “It doesn’t cost anything; teachers like it, and the public seems to like it.”
