It’s been a big week for Eminem, and it just got bigger. Last weekend his new movie, “8 Mile,” bested the competition at the North American box office and took in $54.5 million.

Thursday night at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Barcelona, he took home three top awards before a global TV audience of more than a billion people, reports Reuters.

His wins were for best male artist, best hip-hop artist and best album for “The Eminem Show.”

Receiving his first award from James Bond star Pierce Brosnan, Eminem, 30, told the cheering throng inside Barcelona’s Olympic Palau Sant Jordi, “I want to thank all the fans who made it possible. I couldn’t do it without you guys.”

Indeed: MTV said a record 15 million viewers voted for this year’s award winners.

Other major winners Thursday included Australian sex kitten Kylie Minogue, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Linkin Park, who won two awards each.

Minogue, 34, took the best pop act and best dance act awards. “Tonight wraps up an incredible, almost unbelievable year for me,” she told Reuters Television afterwards.

Sexiest acts of the night apparently were performed — separately — by Enrique Iglesias and Christina Aguilera (who sang “Dirrty”).
