Ellie Goulding and her boyfriend Dougie Poynter rock a comparable style – but the occasional his-and-hers looks don’t bother her!

“We dress kind of similar. Dougie’s always like, ‘We can’t both wear this shirt!’ But I like it,” the “Something in the Way You Move” singer says of the McFly bassist in the February issue of Glamour.

But the pair’s similarities don’t stop at their fashion choices.

“People always say we look like brother and sister. Even our family members say it,” Goulding, 29, admits. “It’s quite weird.”

And with a shared background in the business, the couple have a unique perspective.

“Dougie and I have such different musical worlds, but he understands when I’ve had a tough rehearsal or tough couple of days traveling. I don’t like to rely on him to get me through everything, though. I’m an independent person – I do like to take care of things myself. It’s important to figure out ways of keeping your own Zen,” she explains.

“Relationships have their ups and downs. And sometimes, yeah, I want to be left alone. Dougie is respectful of that.”

Poynter, 28, confirmed he and Goulding were in a relationship in May 2014 after months of media speculation.

“He is definitely the one forever. He’s been through a lot, and he has a quiet depth that I love,” Goulding told ELLE U.K. last year. “And you know what, when I was a teenager, I fancied him, but I thought he was out of my league. Way too good-looking for me.”

And while Poynter has yet to pop the question, when he does, Goulding knows which deejay she’ll hire: (friendly) ex Calvin Harris, who’s currently dating her pal Taylor Swift.

“Calvin Harris has already offered to play at our wedding. Not that we’ve organized one,” she added at the time. “But the offer has been made.”
