It is thought that it will be British reality TV star Jade Goody’s final public act – and one that fulfilled her wish.

The terminally ill former Big Brother contestant and her young sons were baptized together Saturday in what a friend called an emotional service at a London hospital.

Goody, 27, was joined by sons Bobby, 5, and Freddy, 4, at the Royal Marsden hospital for the first time in a week for the 20-minute service. The boys were brought to the hospital by their father, Goody’s former boyfriend Jeff Brazier.

Goody had hoped that the service would take place in a church near her home in Essex, on the eastern edge of London. But, as she battles cervical cancer that has spread to organs around her body, she has been increasingly frail in the last week. She had to be brought into the ceremony in the hospital’s chapel in a wheelchair.

“It was in my mind that she was saying final goodbyes to some people,” said her publicist and friend Max Clifford. “That was just what went through my mind as she was kissing people and smiling at people on the way out.”

“It was a very emotional service,” he added. “It was what she wanted. It meant a lot to her. Freddy was sitting on Jeff’s lap. And she had Bobby on her lap. Every time the water was put on their face there were a few murmurs which made everybody laugh. And everybody clapped. It was a very moving and emotional service.”

A Public Life

It is likely to be her last public act which, like so much of her life in recent years, has been played out in the British press, magazines and on TV.

Goody – who, even before her illness was diagnosed in August 2008 was rarely out of the British gossip magazines and newspapers – shot to fame after appearing on the U.K. version of Big Brother in 2002. Since then she has written books, starred in her own TV shows and re-entered the Big Brother house as a celebrity contestant.

She was married only nine days after a Valentine’s weekend proposal from husband Jack Tweed, 21 – who asked for her hand just after the couple learned that Goody’s cancer had become terminal.
