Though Drake hails from Canada – not exactly close to the great state of Texas – his heart beats strong for the city of Houston. He credits the locale for being a crucial point of growth in his early music career and now he’s giving back – by opening a strip club.

OK, technically it’s not a strip club, but a “new dance experience.”

The 29-year-old rapper/actor announced the venture Monday night during a pop-up event held for the second annual Houston Appreciation Weekend. Drake presided behind the deejay booth inside the city’s Toyota Center arena, ensuring that dollar bills rained down on revelers. In the early morning hours, Drake revealed that the gala was actually a launch party for his forthcoming upscale dance club dubbed “The Ballet.”

Unlike traditional strip clubs, Drake promises to respect the art of his dancers by putting them “on a pedestal” in “unforgettable” surroundings.

“There’s a culture out there of dancing and it’s not about no strip club s—,” he told the crowd. “It’s about these amazing women that we’ve got in one spot, the music that we’ve got, and the Houston culture that we got. I just wanna let you know that I’m going to bring it to you in the most honest and genuine way possible.”

He shared more news of the club on his Instagram account the following day. “Tonight is a different take on how it should be done in Houston,” he captioned the illustration of ballet slippers. “Treat yourself don’t cheat yourself. Where the women are on a pedestal and the surroundings are unforgettable. The Ballet pop up tonight for HAW. Grand opening early 2017.”

All those flying stacks of cash must have caught someone’s attention, because Drake’s tour bus was broken into early Wednesday morning during a gig at Phoenix’s Talking Stick Resort Arena. TMZ reports that thieves made off with between $2 and 3 million dollars worth of jewelry belonging to Drake’s DJ, Future the Prince.

In a video obtained by the outlet, Drake is clearly unhappy. Hopefully he can find some solace with his ladyfriend, Rihanna. Although they’ve recently gotten more public with their relationship, Riri’s new ink sent a pretty strong message.

A rep for Drake did not immediately return request for comment.
