Drake and Rihanna Have Not Split As Source Says Their Relationship is 'Open'

One source tells PEOPLE they're still together "but it's an open thing"

Drake and Rihanna have not parted ways, a source close to the couple confirms to PEOPLE on Monday.

One source says they’re still together “but it’s an open thing.” Neither Rihanna nor Drake’s reps have commented.

The couple made their relationship official in July, but were believed to be “secretly dating for months” before that, a source close to the couple told PEOPLE in May.

However, another source tells PEOPLE the duo “spent a lot of time together and were really close but never considered themselves to be ‘dating.'”

Drake has never shied away from showing his adoration of the Barbados-native, publicly proclaiming his love for the “Work” singer at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards in late August.

“She’s someone I’ve been in love with since I was 22 years old,” he said, before embracing Rihanna with a kiss. “She’s one of my best friends in the world. She’s a living breathing legend in our industry.”

Rihanna shared an Instagram post on Sunday about her past relationships.

“None of my exes are married or in happy relationships so it’s safe to say that I wasn’t da problem lol,” the 28-year-old singer wrote in the message, including a trophy emoji.

The star did not mention names, but previous ex-boyfriends include Chris Brown, and Atlanta Braves star Matt Kemp.

The “Hotline Bling” singer recently suffered an ankle injury that forced him to cancel the remainder of his Summer Sixteen tour.
