Donald Trump Threatens to 'Spill the Beans' on Ted Cruz' Wife After Anti-Trump Group Shares Nude Meme of Melania
The two Republican candidates went head to head on Twitter
Don’t mess with Melania.
The image, which was obtained by Vox, shows Melania naked on a bed as she poses for a 2000 spread in British GQ.
Although Cruz has denied responsibility for the image, Trump took to twitter on Tuesday, slamming the Texas senator.
“Lyin’ Ted Crux just used a picture of Melania from a G.Q. shoot in his ad. Be careful, Lyin’ Ted, or I will spill the beans on your wife,” Trump wrote.
It’s unclear exactly what Trump is referring to about Cruz’ wife.
According to CNN, the meme was actually part of a Facebook advertisement released by the group Make America Awesome and is targeted to Mormons. The report adds that the group has no connection to the Cruz campaign.
Cruz later hit back at the GOP front-runner, maintaining that the ad did not come from his camp.
Presidential Candidates React to Brussels Attacks
“Pic of your wife not from us,” Cruz tweeted on Tuesday. “Donald, if you try to attack Heidi, you’re more of a coward that I thought #classless.”
After the ad was released, the group reportedly faced backlash with critics accusing them of slut-shaming the billionaire businessman’s wife.
However, the PAC’s founder defended the picture in an interview with Vox.
“It’s objectionable because in typical porn/porn-lite fashion, it features her handcuffed to a briefcase, looking vulnerable and sends an implicit message of female subservience, as a lot of photos of tethered, naked women produced for male titillation and consumption do,” Liz Mair said. “And Mormon women don’t much like that.”
Despite the controversy surrounding Trump, he still managed to pull out a victory in the Arizona primary tonight. Results in Utah and Idaho are still pending.
