Celebrity Donald Trump, Sarah Palin and Ted Cruz Storm Capitol Hill to Protest Iran Deal "We are led by very, very stupid people," Donald Trump said of President Obama and his team By Tierney McAfee Published on September 9, 2015 03:40 PM Share Tweet Pin Email Photo: Getty The tea party’s not over. Led by GOP presidential candidates Donald Trump and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, plus former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson, tea partiers descended on Capitol Hill on Wednesday to oppose President Obama‘s nuclear arms deal with Iran. After being introduced by Cruz (and REM’s “It’s the End of the World as We Know It”), Trump addressed the crowd at the rally on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol. “Never in my life have I seen any transaction so incompetently negotiated as our deal with Iran,” he said. “We are led by very, very stupid people. We cannot let it continue.” Adding that America is not “winning” anything under its current leaders, he promised, “We will have so much winning if I get elected that you may get bored with winning No, you’ll never get bored with winning.” While the billionaire businessman’s comments were met with cheers of “President Trump,” the crowd also included crictics. As Trump spoke, a group of immigration rights protestors made their way through the crowd, chanting, “Trump has got to go.” The rally comes a day after Obama lined up his 41st Senate vote in favor of the treaty, meaning Republicans do not have the 60 votes they would need to force through a disapproval resolution. And as Republicans railed against the deal, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton was across town at Washington’s Brookings Institution giving a speech in support of the treaty and vowing to enforce it “with vigor and vigilance.” “Either we move forward on the path of diplomacy and seize this chance to block Iran’s path to a nuclear weapon – or, we turn down a more dangerous path leading to a far less certain and riskier future,” Clinton said. Back at the Capitol Hill rally, GOP presidential candidate and former Virginia Gov. Jim Gilmore, radio hosts Mark Levin and Glenn Beck, Duck Dynasty‘s Phil Robertson, and a number of members of Congress were also on hand. But even as the others delivered speeches, all cameras were on Palin behind the scenes. “Obama’s deal is insane,” Palin said when she finally took the stage. “This treaty will not bring peace. You don’t reward terrorism, you kill it. You don’t lift sanctions, you crack down on their assets. You cut off their oil and drill, baby, drill for our own.” Donald Trump Hoped Princess Diana Would Be His ‘Trophy Wife,’ Says British TV Anchor “Congress, you gotta kill the deal,” she added. “The president is playing you, Congress, again.” Jenny Beth Martin of Tea Party Patriots, who organized the event, told Breitbart News on Tuesday night, “We’re excited we’re going to be able to let Congress know the majority of Americans think this Iran deal is bad for America.” “We hope that Congress, especially the senators who have come out in favor of the deal, will vote to put America and America’s security above party loyalty.”
