What to do what to do … Here’s something – emcee an awards show!
On July 31, Sophia Bush will be the host of VH1’s 2013 Do Something Awards, honoring celebrities and young people making a difference in the world.
The former One Tree Hill actress, 31, who has attended the show in the past, will be joined by presenters, including Malin Akerman, Lucy Hale and Cynthia Nixon.
Sasha Fisher, Daniel Maree, Jillian Mourning, Lorella Praeli and Ben Simon are the young nominees vying to win $100,000 for their cause.
Fisher was nominated for founding Spark MicroGrants, which provides grants to rural poor communities in Rwanda and Uganda to build their own social impact projects. Maree started the Million Hoodies Movement for Justice after the Trayvon Martin case. Praeli devoted a notable amount of effort to the United We Dream organization.
Mourning founded All We Want is Love, a sex-trafficking education organization. Simon started the Food Recovery Network at the University of Maryland, which uses college volunteers who recover leftover food from their dining halls and donates it to local soup kitchens and shelters in their communities.
The Do Something Awards air live on VH1 from Avalon Hollywood at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
