A California resident is claiming that her 8-year-old son was injured by “an aggressive hug” from a Disneyland employee dressed as Pluto.
Laurie Ramirez, of Rancho Cucamonga, told KTLA that her son Ethan “spent all afternoon in the emergency room” after being “tossed around like a rag doll” by the costumed character.
Ramirez said that a Disney rep met the family at the hospital and offered to pay for her son’s treatment and that the actor in the suit had been disciplined. TMZ adds that Ramirez told them the rep also brought them El Pollo Loco for dinner.
A Disney spokeswoman could not confirm those facts to KTLA, adding by email later that “We are in contact with the family and are in the process of gathering the facts.”
Ramirez told TMZ that a Disneyland nurse examined Ethan and concluded he was fine. She requested a wheelchair to bring him to the car, which she says the park denied. When he couldn’t sit in a stroller for the journey to their car, she demanded medical attention, at which point paramedics took Ethan to the hospital. There, she said, doctors told her they believe Ethan has “severe muscle strain.”
