"The Next Miley Cyrus" says she and her fellow teen star are "all good."
Rising teen star Selena Gomez is shooting down rumors that she and fellow Disney darling Miley Cyrus are feuding.
The 15-year-old star of Disney’s Wizards of Waverly Place, who has widely been dubbed as “The Next Miley Cyrus,” told E! Online, “We’re literally like, It’s fine. It’s all good. She’s Miley and I’m Selena.”
Still, the Texas native isn’t turned off by the comparisons to the Hannah Montana star. “It’s a little overwhelming, but I think really, it’s a compliment, said Gomez, who has an upcoming debut album and a film in the works. “She’s obviously extremely successful, and I think she’s a wonderful performer … So being compared to her, I was very, very flattered.”
So how do the teens differ? For one, when it comes to performing her music, Gomez won’t be hitting the stage alone – or as an alter ego, for that matter. “I’m not going to be a solo artist. I want to be in a band with four other guys.”
Right now, however, her main focus is planning her Sweet 16 party (her birthday is July 22). And though she’ll star in the fall movie Another Cinderella Story, she’s using a different beloved storybook character as her inspiration. “I kind of want a Mad Hatter style cake like Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz’s [wedding] cake,” she said. Also on her wish list: a photo booth and karaoke. As for the guest list, “It’s going to be really just strictly family and friends.”
