Disney knows how to manage its pantheon of characters. Beloved heroes and villains come back for sequels, cartoons, spin-offs and stage shows, but one Disney film had yet to translate over to the larger Disney universe – until now.

The campy 1993 Halloween film Hocus Pocus offered three great, witchy villains – the Sanderson sisters, Winnie (Bette Midler), Mary (Kathy Najimy) and Sarah (Sarah Jessica Parker). And while cast members have mentioned in the past that they’d potentially be interested in a sequel, they haven’t reappeared since.

Last week, however, Disney announced that the Sanderson sisters would be joining other iconic villains for a new stage show at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom park this fall, just in time for Halloween. The "Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular" show runs from Sept. 15 to Nov. 1.

That’s a long way from a fully fledged Hocus Pocus 2, but the news was enough to trend on social media. Take a note, Disney – ’90s kids have a soft spot for those Hocus Pocus witches.
