Bobby Flay's Rep Responds to Allegations That the Chef Cheated with His Assistant
Celebrity chef Bobby Flay, 50, who officially separated from Law & Order: SVU actress Stephanie March in early April, is facing new allegations that he had a relationship with his assistant Elyse Tirrell.
In response to the Page Six report that said they had a three year relationship, Flay’s rep tells PEOPLE: “We will continue to refrain from responding to the continued efforts by certain parties to spread rumors and innuendo.”
“This specific allegation was in a letter sent from one attorney in this case to the other,” the rep continued. “It was written and then leaked specifically to try to insert this story into the press, and that’s unfortunate. Even more unfortunate is that all of this is being done in order to renegotiate a pre-nuptial agreement that was agreed to over a decade ago and never amended during the marriage.”
Tirrell, 28, worked at Flay’s restaurant Bar Americain before becoming his assistant, according to the New York Post which cites actress/writer Maia Madison, who claims March, 40, learned of the affair sometime after Thanksgiving in 2014.
“She came to my house and was sobbing uncontrollably, ” Madison told the Post. “She said, ‘I can t believe the last 10 years of my life have been a lie.’ ”
A source confirmed to PEOPLE that March has had suspicions of Flay having an affair with his assistant.
A second source who knows March told PEOPLE last week: “This is a very difficult time for Stephanie who is also busy assisting her mother with some serious health issues.”
The couple has been married for 10 years and they have no children together.
