Diane, Charlie Stay Put

Diane Sawyer and Charles Gibson have agreed to stay another year as hosts of ABC’s “Good Morning America,” the troubled news show that has been ained new life since they came aboard five months ago. “They’ve had such a great time that they’ve agreed to stay on,” said ABC News President David Westin. Sawyer and Gibson were billed as a temporary fix when they replaced Lisa McRee and Kevin Newman in January. Since then, viewership for “GMA” has gone up 27%. The show is still far behind NBC’s “Today” in the ratings but is no longer in danger of giving up its second-place slot to CBS’ “This Morning,” currently in third place.
