Paul Burrell, former butler to Princess Diana, is in hot demand on American shores, according to reports in the U.S., while in Britain it is being said that the 40-year-old, whom Diana referred to as her “rock,” is about to go on the dole (Britain’s equivalent of unemployment insurance). Burrell was fired last month from his $55,000-a-year position with the $150-million-plus charity set up in memory of Diana. Burrell’s brother Graham, 32, told Britain’s Sunday Mirror: “Unless something dramatic happens, he’ll sign on (the dole).” Meanwhile, it is being reported in America that Tom Cruise, Elizabeth Taylor, Elton John and Angela Lansbury are each interested in hiring Burrell, and that he is now weighing job offers.
