Demi Lovato honored her great-grandfather while grieving his death on Monday.

The singer, 23, posted an Instagram of her great-grandfather looking down at her late dog Buddy, who passed away in July.

“My two favorite Buddys are now playing in Heaven,” Lovato wrote in the caption. “My heart is absolutely broken and I can’t even begin to imagine a world without my Papa but I know one day we’ll meet again and that’s what keeps me going. I hate writing this… But RIP Papa… I miss you so much already. I love you. Please keep my Mimaw in your prayers.”

In August, Lovato posted an adorable snap of her “papa” holding hands with her great-grandmother.

“How precious is this???” she wrote. “Mimaw (my 93 year old great-grandmother and Papa (my 88 year old great-grandfather) holding hands and still so in love.. It’s so beautiful… Married over 50 years and he STILL looks at her this way…. I love them so much…”

Lovato’s loss comes weeks before the release of her album Confident on Oct. 16.
