“What’s wrong with being confident?”

Demi Lovato‘s question comes off more like a defiant statement in her infectious new single “Confident,” the followup to her hit "Cool for the Summer."

Lovato’s latest repeat-ready offering, released online early Friday, finds the former Disney star embracing her sexuality like never before.

“I used to hold my freak back,” the 23-year-old sings. “Now I’m letting go. I make my own choice. Bitch, I run this show. So leave the lights on. No, you can’t make me behave.”

Lovato announced the release on Twitter, writing, “My next single #Confident is avail on @AppleMusic NOW when u preorder the album!! Go get it!!”

She revealed the single cover on Tuesday, tweeting, “#Confident is officially my next single!!! Pre-order the album now!!!”

As Lovato counts down to the release of her new album Confident on Oct. 16, the singer has been grabbing headlines on her promotional tour. During a recent appearance on England’s Alan Carr: Chatty Man show, Lovato hinted at being bisexual, saying, “I don’t think there’s anything wrong with experimentation at all.”

Lovato has also made time for fun with pal Selena Gomez – the duo reunited earlier this month, snapping a selfie that went viral.
