Demi Lovato Is a Protective Big Sister Says Madison De La Garza: She's Strong and a Free Spirit
"We talk about anything and everything," De La Garza says of the "Heart Attack" singer
The 13-year-old, who played Eva Longoria‘s daughter on Desperate Housewives tells Seventeen magazine that her half-sister might not be around all the time but she makes her family a priority.
“I think when people say they wish Demi Lovato was their sister, they don’t realize how hard it is to be related to someone who’s constantly away on tour. But she’s good at making time for me,” De La Garza says in an interview in the magazine’s September issue.
“We text constantly, and whenever she sees a funny tweet, she’ll screenshot it and send it to our family group message (which includes our mom and our sister, Dallas). My phone is constantly going off just from that. When Demi is home, our relationship is just like any sisters’. We get fro-yo and watch the ID channel – we’re obsessed – and we talk about anything and everything. I know I can trust her with it all.”
The “Cool for the Summer” singer tells Seventeen that she encourages her sister to call her as much as possible. “I want her to come to me with things. I just let her know that I’m always there for her, whether I’m on the other side of the world or I’m next door.”
Demi Lovato Feels ‘Confident’ Without Makeup
And Lovato, 22, who’s dealt with her share of bullying is fiercely protective of De La Garza and stood up for her online when the teen was cyberbullied.
“Last year I got a ton of negative comments after I posted a Vine on Twitter where I was cooking with Demi. People made fun of me, saying I had a hunchback,” De La Garza revealed. “Demi freaked and direct-messaged people to yell at them, and she tweeted at her followers to stand up for me. Sometimes I wish she wouldn’t give people attention – I’ve learned not to – but when people hate on me, she can’t really hold back. She’s strong and she’s a free spirit, and that’s what I love about her.”
