Debra Messing has filed to officially end her marriage to Daniel Zelman, six months after the pair announced their separation.

According to court documents filed Tuesday, the actress seeks joint custody of their son, 8, and is asking for spousal and child support.

Messing, 43, began dating her Smash co-star Will Chase around the time of the split announcement in December, although the court papers timed the separation back in February 2010.

Messing, who married Zelman in September 2000, recently said she’s “okay with people being unhappy with me.”

Messing has hired high-profile attorney Neal Hersh, whose clients have included Camille Grammer, Halle Berry and Melissa Etheridge.
