Dean McDermott Treats His Kids to Homemade Ice Cream Party
The motorcycle enthusiast whips up a customized flavor – it's pink! – at home with Stella and Liam
“Making ice cream with the kids,” he Tweeted, alongside a photo of him and his little ones, Liam, 3, and Stella, 2, getting crafty in their home kitchen Wednesday.
But Tori Spelling‘s hubby wasn’t dishing up a typical sundae. Instead, the trio made a homemade concoction. The flavor? Pink Princess Kit Kat Chunk Supreme. The name fits the rose-colored confection, which is topped with pieces of the chocolate candy.
“Stella got to pick the color,” the reality star explained via Twitter.
Whipping up goodies with his kids is one of McDermott’s favorite pastimes. “I love cooking with the kids because it’s a great opportunity to spend time with them and teach them how to cook,” he says. “I would let them add the ingredients into the bowl if they could tell me what they were adding, and what they were using to add that particular ingredient.”
And although it’s a fun bonding experience, he hopes his children will get something out of it – just like he did when he was growing up.
“My mom taught me that a gentleman should know how to cook and clean, so I want to pass those lessons along to my kids,” he says. “It’s a big reason I have a passion for cooking, well that, and ironing – I love ironing.” And McDermott’s not the only one who knows the way to his kids’ hearts is through their stomachs.
“I love to take them out for ice cream,” grandma Candy Spelling told PEOPLE in May, “And when they get cranky … I take them home!”
