Husband and wife Ossie Davis, 82, and Ruby Dee, 76, who through 52 years of marriage have often collaborated on movies, will be honored with the Screen Actor’s Guild lifetime achievement award, to be presented March 11. “For more than half a century, together and individually, Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee have enriched and transformed American life as brilliant actors, writers, directors, producers and passionate advocates for social justice, human dignity and creative excellence,” said SAG president William Daniels, pointing out that the two have also been social activists for voting rights, for sickle-cell disease research and for the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s 1963 March on Washington.
