David Spade: Laugh Til It Hurts

As sardonic as he is on NBC’s “Just Shoot Me,” comic actor David Spade, 36, revealed his compassionate side Thursday in the aftermath of his alleged attack with an electric stun gun by his personal assistant. “David Malloy was a good friend of mine for five years,” Spade, in a statement, said about the employee who “is obviously mentally troubled right now . . . My heart goes out to him.” Spade suffered minor injuries at his Beverly Hills home at the time of the attack on Wednesday, police Sgt. Tom Van Ausdell said in a statement. Malloy reportedly fled the scene of the attack to his home in Orange County, where he was arrested and booked on investigation of burglary and assault with a stun gun, among other charges, police said. Bail was set at $50,000 and he is scheduled for a court appearance on Dec. 29. On Thursday Spade returned to work on “Just Shoot Me,” said NBC. That very night, at the My VH1 Music Awards, he announced before presenting the stage “spectacle” award to Metallica: “Hi, I just got beat up and Tasered by one of my friends.”
