David Cassidy Files for Bankruptcy
The former Partridge Family star owes as much as $10 million
Former Partridge Family star David Cassidy, who has sold more than 30 million records, has filed for bankruptcy.
In papers filed in Florida Wednesday and obtained by PEOPLE, Cassidy, 64, says he has assets and debt of up to $10 million. Among his creditors are Wells Fargo Bank ($290,000), American Express ($21,000) and Citi Bank ($17,000). He’s also $102,000 in debt with a lawyer in Hallandale, Florida.
The 1970s teen heartthrob, who has homes in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Saratoga Springs, New York, has battled substance abuse issues and spent time in rehab early last year.
He was charged with DUI in November 2010 and was subsequently charged with the same offense in August 2013 and January 2014. A month after his third arrest, his wife, Sue Shifrin-Cassidy, filed for divorce.
Cassidy was most recently seen on TV as a contestant on Celebrity Apprentice in 2011.
