Dave's Coming Back

David Letterman, still recuperating from his Jan. 14 emergency quintuple heart bypass, will be returning as host of his “Late Show” on CBS Monday night. The show will tape this Friday. Dave is expected to work only two nights next week. “He’s really wanted to come back to work for a while now,” the show’s executive producer, Rob Burnett, told a new conference. “As early as two weeks ago, he was rarin’ to go.” The other nights will feature guest hosts, the first time Dave has allowed this in his 18 years on late night TV. Bill Cosby is slated to guest host on Tuesday, Regis Philbin (who’ll sit in with Dave on Monday) will guest host on Thursday, and other guest hosts will soon be announced. Burnett said that it was possible that “Late Show” might move to having regular guest hosts, and that Dave might ultimately pull back to appearing only four nights a week.
