Tom Cruise vs. an Elvis-singing alien? Cruise and Steven Spielberg’s dark, futuristic tale, “Minority Report,” ended up neck in neck with the new Disney cartoon “Lilo & Stitch” for the No. 1 ranking in this weekend’s box-office race, according to movie-studio estimates — though Disney is crying foul over the claims from the sci-fi movie’s studio, 20th Century Fox, reports the Associated Press. Disney calls the Fox figures inflated, and by just enough to grab the top spot, says the news service. Final figures, settling the matter once and for all, will be released later Monday. Either way it is measured, “Minority Report” did not achieve the sort of staggering figures as might have been expected, given the $102 million movie’s pairing of Hollywood’s No. 1 box-office star with its No. 1 filmmaker. “Scooby-Doo” debuted last weekend with a $54 million take.
