Frances Bean Cobain, Courtney Love's Daughter, Channels Old Hollywood Glamour
The daughter of Courtney Love and the late grunge rocker Kurt Cobain is all grown up at 19
With her soft, wistful expression and Old Hollywood glamour, Frances Bean Cobain’s style is about as far as she can get from that of her parents, the late grunge rocker Kurt Cobain and her wild child mom, Courtney Love.
A new series of photos, taken by fine art photographer Rocky Schenck, captures the now-blonde 19-year-old alternating between sultry and sweet poses.
Cobain, an artist, also posed for some wildly different shots by Hedi Slimane that appeared earlier this month. In that set, she was a brunette shown smoking and covered in tattoos.
The earlier photos prompted a flurry of fashion buzz, with some calling her the next “It Girl,” and The New York Times calling Cobain’s emergence “one of the most anticipated comings of age in recent pop cultural history.”
She’s done other shoots in the past, including a spread for Harper’s Bazaar when she was just 15, though she said she wasn’t courting fame.
“These people are fascinated by me, but I haven’t done anything,” she says. “If you’re a big Nirvana fan, a big Hole fan, then I understand why you would want to get to know me, but I’m not my parents.”
