He may not have made PEOPLE’s “Country’s Hottest Guys” list this year, but Jimmy Wayne knows what’s sexy.

“Girls seem to like to laugh a lot,” the crooner tells PEOPLE of his self-proclaimed sexiest quality at CMA’s song writers series at Joe’s Pub in New York City. “Apparently girls like my lips because they are not paper thin,” he adds so as to not potentially be pigeonholed as “the comedian” on next year’s hottest list.

Perhaps Wayne, 36, could be the do-gooder of the bunch. He was not only the youngest person to be recognized by the Salvation Army for his charity work, but also has been involved with St. Jude Children’s Hospital and is “really passionate” about “anything that has something to do with helping teenagers.”

Having grown up in foster care himself, he says, “there is something special about the kids who grow out of the system, when they’re young, they’re in foster homes/foster care, but sometimes they’re let go when they reach a certain age and they have no where to go, and that’s where I was at one point in my life and this family helped out.”

Meanwhile, Wayne will spend the summer opening for fellow country hotties Brad Paisley and Dierks Bentley on the “American Saturday Night Tour,” which kicks off in his hometown of Charlotte N.C., on June 5.

When asked if he was prepared for the inevitable pranks, that come along with touring with Paisley, Wayne hints, “I’ve got a few things up my sleeve – I’ve got one so bad, it’s so bad of a prank it might get me arrested.
