Connor Cruise‘s birthday month continues!

The DJ son of Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman celebrated his 21st birthday (again) on Friday by playing at his own party at San Francisco’s Temple Nightclub.

Connor actually turned 21 on Jan. 17, and has been celebrating with friends and family across the United States.

But the best gift Cruise got for the big 2-1?

“Being with all my friends and seeing all my family,” he told PEOPLE on Friday night.

Cruise, who recently visited his megastar dad on the set of his upcoming film Jack Reacher: Never Go Back in New Orleans, fondly reminisced about the outings his family took together took growing up.

“We used to go fishing a lot when I was a little kid,” he says. “The biggest fish I caught was a 250-lb. tuna in Fiji, I was 10.”

He adds, “I was blessed to travel the world as a young kid and now I’m traveling the world working.”

Cruise, who has been playing international shows as a DJ, says his main passion in life right now is spinning music.

“Music, it’s where my head is at … You know music is cool because you can never stop creating,” says Cruise. “You are always doing something new, so I’m willing to go wherever the music takes me.”

The musician’s Academy-Award nominated dad, Tom Cruise, has been known to frequent Connor’s gigs.

“I started DJing in my bedroom when I was about 13,” the son says. “Then that escalated and I started doing shows.”
