While Hillary Rodham Clinton appears to be making a bid on one of New York’s U.S. Senate seats next year, her husband, President Bill Clinton, may be contemplating running for the Senate as the rep from Arkansas, reports the New Yorker magazine. (The election for the Arkansas seat will be in 2002.) The Prez is “noncommittal but interested,” the magazine says. Should both Clintons run — and win — it would mark the first time that a married couple ever served in the Senate at the same time. Some political pundits are noting that should Bill run in Arkansas (considered the Clintons’ home state), it might underscore Hillary’s carpetbagger status in New York — which current New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani is emphasizing in HIS bid for the U.S. Senate seat.
