You needn’t call her stepmother – Madam will do.

At least those are Cate Blanchett‘s orders as she revels in the role of the evil stepmother opposite Lily James in Disney’s Cinderella, a live-action version of the fairy tale, in theaters March 13.

In this exclusive featurette clip, the Oscar-winning actress, 45, and director Kenneth Branagh discuss her turn as Lady Tremaine and just what makes someone wicked.

“It’s impossible with someone like Cate Blanchett – who has such talent – for her not to bring a layer of depth,” the director says in the video, likening her screen presence to those of old Hollywood stars including Lauren Bacall and Joan Crawford.

Get a behind-the-scenes glimpse of Blanchett’s vindictive charm and evil cackle as she helps bring the timeless fairy tale back to life.
